Sweat™ is proud to introduce a new blog series to our followers, titled "Sweat On The Sidelines". We have tapped into our incredible network of hard working women in Sports Broadcasting, and are bringing you exclusive interviews to learn more about them and their journey. These women are crushing their TV gigs, embracing the Sweat™ lifestyle and, of course, rocking all the Sweat™ products as they do it.
Our final feature for 2020 is one of our favorite former teammates and Sweat™ Ambassador, Kaylyn Kyle Heath. This girl does it all, and we mean it! Not only is she breaking barriers as a female TV host and commentator, she is a wife, mom, stylista and workout enthusiast, tackling everyday with a go-getter mentality.
Tell Us a Little About Yourself!
I was born and raised in Canada, played professional soccer for over 10 years, and was also a member of the Canadian Women’s National Soccer Team. I played in two Women’s World Cups and brought home a bronze medal at the 2012 Olympics. I am now working in television covering the Women’s World Cup and La Liga. I'm also sideline reporting for Inter Miami CF in the MLS.
How are you keeping busy these days? Walk us through a "normal" quarantine day in your life.
Wake up around 7am with my 2 year old, MUST HAVE COFFEE asap! Then go for a workout with my son. I strap him into his stroller, pack it with snacks, and we usually spend 30min -1 hour working out, then play futbol with him anywhere we can find grass. We have lunch, I put him down for his nap, then I get to work. I usually shoot a show around noon, catch up on emails, and work on my new business venture before the crazy man wakes up around 2:30. Then we usually swim in the back yard or head to the beach or park, something always outdoors. I prep dinner once we get home, and Hayden goes down at 7pm. Once he's asleep, I usually catch up on all my reality TV, if no futbol is on which is a rarity. In bed by 10pm :)
Where can we usually watch or find you on TV?
BeIN Sports USA + on the sidelines or as a digital host for Inter Miami C.F.
How did you get into the TV industry?
I knew I always wanted to go into it when I was playing. I wanted to be part of the game when I retired, and that’s what I did! I'm extremely driven, and I work my ass off to try and be one of the best in the industry. I continue to learn and grow from my colleagues - I ask a lot of questions and annoy my bosses by always asking how can I be better or do more! I absolutely love what I do!!!!
What is your proudest life moment?
Winning the Olympic Bronze Medal vs France in 2012.
What is the biggest life lesson that playing sports has taught you?
Never take "no" for an answer.
What's your favorite workout?
Love anything demanding or hard. I love to change things up, so I can’t pick just one! But what I can tell you is that I hate just going to the gym and doing weights.
Why do you think it's important to make time for your "Daily Sweat"?
Mentally and emotionally it is so important. I love how strong, free and motivated I feel after I sweat.
What is your go-to post workout snack or meal?
What is your favorite Sweat product and why?
The 'Gleam On' Illuminator!!!!!!!!!! I LOVE LOVE LOVE it, and wear it on TV all the time.
What is the best advice you would give your 20 year-old self?
Never say no to anything, stay driven and take the time to stop and listen. There are people that truly want to help you along the way.
What’s exciting coming up for you?
I have a new business launching soon, and I couldn’t be more excited or proud! It’s completely out of my comfort zone. I knew nothing about the industry before getting into it, but I love a good challenge, especially when I’m inspired by something or someone! Stay tuned!
